Created in 1985, the Magnifica Brass Quintet was awarded the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation prize the following year. It rapidly consolidated its reputation by winning two major international awards: first prize in Baltimore (United States) in1989 and in Narbonne (France) in 1990.
The Magnifica Quintet takes part in prestigious French festivals (Méditerranéen, Art Sacré de Paris, RadioFrance, Reims, …) and tours internationally on a regular basis (United States, Latin America, Africa, Russia, Hungary, Austria, Malta, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Japan,…)
Commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coach the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra, it also organises regular master classes.
The Quintet plays on instruments supplied by Yamaha and participates in events organised by the company in France and abroad.
With an eclectic repertoire spanning from the Middle Ages to contemporary works, the Magnifica Quintet constantly strives to broaden its horizons with innovative musical associations:
Brass quintet and soprano
Brass quintet and organ
Brass quintet and soloist: trumpet and percussion
Brass quintet and string orchestra
Brass quintet and choir, quintet and harmony orchestra, brass ensemble
The Magnifica Quintet blends the five brass instruments to produce a rich harmony of colours in a distinctive style which marks all the Quintet’s recordings.
